Dear New
Patient,
Welcome to our office!
Thank you for visiting the website and we welcome your interest in chiropractic health services. We are committed
to providing gentle and effective chiropractic care for improved spinal health to each and every patient.
Often times we find that new patients have never been to a chiropractor
before and this is a completely new experience for them. Other times patients may have received chiropractic care in
the past, but due to a recent relocation, they are searching for a new chiropractor. And there are others who may have
had a limited experience with chiropractic whether it was treatment for a whiplash injury due to a car accident or a few adjustments
earlier in their life. Regardless of the situation, all new patients have one thing in common: a
desire to decrease their pain and improve their health through a holistic approach.
At the Chiropractic
Office & Wellness Center of Cynthia McMahon-Jenkin, DC, we strive to offer patients the health benefits achieved
through quality and conservative chiropractic care. By choosing our office to address your back and neck pain, you are
giving yourself the opportunity to address your pain without the need for (more) medications and help prevent the need for
surgery. We are dedicated to helping you harness your body's natural healing ability and restore your spinal health
through hands-on chiropractic care and supportive physical therapies.
Please visit the following website for more information about chiropractic care
at the American Chiropractic Association: www.amerchiro.org
What to expect on your First Visit: Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill
out paper work. This part of the visit is essential in obtaining a current and past health history and a thorough description
of your chief complaint. Next is a consultation with the doctor to discuss your current complaints and concerns.
A spinal examination will follow to determine the specific areas of the spine contributing to your pain. This is done
through Posture Analysis and Static Palpation, Motion Palpation, and Soft Tissue Analysis which are gentle hands-on examination
procedures. Orthopedic and Neurologic examinations will be performed to determine nerve involvement and other causes
of pain. After the examination, the Doctor will determine if X-rays are needed and will refer patient to a diagnostic
facility if necessary. If a referral to a specialist or other health care provider is warranted, then the appropriate
recommendation will be made. What to expect on the Follow-Up Visit: Prior to beginning treatment, the Doctor
will review the examination results with the patient and make the appropriate treatment recommendations. Patients are always
welcome to discuss any concerns about their care prior to treatment and throughout the course of care. The treatment goals
of chiropractic care are to restore alignment and range of motion to restricted areas of the spine, to reduce and/or eliminate
joint pain, nerve irritation, and muscle spasm and to strengthen and stabilize injured and weak areas to prevent re-injury
and for improved healing. Care is through gentle and effective, hands-on chiropractic adjustments and supportive physical
therapy modalities. Self-care recommendations are given and specific exercise and posture instruction are taught for
improving recovery outcomes. Treatment visits and frequency of care are individualized for each patient.
Regular
Office Visits: Includes Chiropactic care and Physical therapy. Patients are assessed for
flare-ups, progress, and response to care on each visit. If a patient has a new injury or complaint, the Doctor will
re-examine the patient and prioritize their complaints to help address the patient's needs.
